My Experience
Our first priority was deciding what the basic mechanics would be and the initial narrative for our game. With those two points clear, while the programming team worked in making sure the systems would work, I started to plan out the level design with quick sketchs drawn directly on MS Paint, and left clear instructions in each level for the programmers.
Then, while our second artist focused in creating our protagonists -- the nanobots - and their animations, I focused on creating tilesets for the map. As it was inside a machine, I took inpiration from computer setups and computer parts. By making the whole scenario a little more cool toned, we where able to make the bots be as colorful as they could, creating a nice contrast.
The most exciting part was creating the audio. Having just a little experience in this area and with the help of my team, I was able to create three music variations for the levels and also the sound effects for different actions made by the bots. It was extremely rewarding to be able to create and get direct feedback from the work from other participants and my team members.
